This is a step up from their already strong debut album. The compositions have become even more refined. What i love about Universe Effects: they always sound classy, never cheesy. The dissonant chords and sophisticated chord progressions give enormous depth to their music. What a great band!

This is epic rock music to my liking: powerful, yet subtle, intricate and inventive, yet accessible and breathtakingly beautiful. Universe Effects continue to impress. The performances of all five members are stunning. In particular, i want to mention vocalist Gabriel Antoine Vallée, who really shines on this recording. Imho, he has never sounded better. "The Distance" may be an EP - nonetheless, it is my favourite (post-)progressive rock album of the decade so far.

Metropolitan matches my idea of a perfect album: the songwriting is brillant from start to finish, the musicianship and vocals are impeccable, the arrangements are inventive, there's a wonderful flow to the whole thing, and the sound quality is top-notch. I cannot praise this masterpiece enough!
